THE ULTIMATE S’MORES CONTEST - RULES
Presented by the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow
ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open to residents of the fifty (50) states of the United States and the
District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older. All applicants and or contestants under 18
must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older.
- Employees or members and immediate families of the Texas Recreational Vehicle
Association and its dealer members, GURU Partners Marketing & Advertising, Shiroma
Southwest PR and 2010 Southwest RV Supershow exhibitors, vendors and contractors
are not eligible.
- Members, employees, and immediate families of the Contest judges are not eligible.
- Employees and immediate families of any company involved with the design, production,
execution, or distribution of the Contest are not eligible.
- Professional chefs are not eligible.
ENTRY RULES AND CRITERIA
- The recipe must not have knowingly been previously published or have won another
award, and the right to submit it must not be restricted in any way.
Submission of a recipe is a warranty that the contestant owns all copyrights and
other intellectual property rights to the recipe and constitutes an assignment
of these rights to the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow and the Texas Recreational
Vehicle Association. Additionally, sponsors and their employees, officers, and agents,
and members of the judging panels, will not be held liable for any copyright
infringements or any prior exclusivity rights to any recipe submitted.
- Each submitted recipe must be original and:
a. include the name of the recipe
b. include readily available ingredients (found in most well-stocked supermarkets)
c. each ingredient, must be listed, preferably in order of use
d. include standard U.S. measurements
e. be written to make three (3) S’mores
f. contain complete step-by-step cooking instructions
g. can be completely prepared and delivered to the judges within thirty (30)
minutes.
- All selected contestants must prepare the individual elements of their recipe prior to
arrival at the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow at Dallas Market Hall. The recipe must
then be assembled and prepared onsite with the use of an outside fire pit provided by
the show and presented to the panel for judging.
ENTRY RULES
- A recipe may be submitted by an individual, a couple or a team. There is no limit on the
number of recipes submitted.
- Eligible individuals, couples or groups are invited to submit unlimited entries to
info@shiromasouthwest.com, beginning 6 a.m. Sept. 5 through noon September15.
Applicants must also supply the following with their recipe submission:
a. Name
b. Address
c. Daytime phone number
d. Email address
SELECTION OF FINALISTS
- Six (6) recipes from six different individuals will be selected to compete in one of two
preliminary rounds (for a total of twelve contestants) of the Ultimate S’mores Contest at
2010 Southwest RV Supershow, September 18 at Dallas Market Hall, Dallas, Texas at
either 12 noon or 6 p.m.
- On Wednesday, September 16, the twelve (12) selected contestants will be notified by
email and phone that they have been chosen to compete in the preliminary competition
on September 18.
- On Friday, Sept. 18, the preliminary round of the Ultimate S’mores Contest will take
place with six (6) contestants competing at 12 noon and six (6) contestants competing at
6 p.m. Based on the judges selection, the top three (3) winners of each round (noon and
6 p.m.) for a total of six (6) contestants and their recipes will be then be selected to
compete in the final round of the Ultimate S’mores Contest.
- The final six (6) contestants will then compete on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12 noon at the
2010 Southwest RV Supershow for first or second prize.
- Four (4) tickets to the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow will be provided to each
participant (value is $40.00) for entry to the competition and for their own personal use.
Tickets will be available at Will Call at the show for each day the contestant is
competing.
JUDGING
- The following guidelines will be used in both preliminary and final rounds:
a. Creativity
b. Taste
c. Visual appeal
d. Ease of preparation and assembly
- Each selected contestant will be provided a covered, draped table for preparation and an
outside fire pits for cooking their recipe. All other equipment needed to produce the
S’mores recipe for judging must be provided by the contestant including, but not limited
to: hot plate, portable blender, bowls, utensils, and three (3) presentation plates and
forks. No other appliances may be brought or used onsite (including a microwave or
stove.)
- Recipes that do not follow contest rules will be disqualified. Qualified recipes in each
category will be reviewed by an independent panel who will select the top twelve (12)
recipe entries. During each round of the competition, contestants will prepare their
recipes and the S’mores to be tasted by an independent panel to determine the winners.
In both the preliminary round and final round of judging, the decisions of the judges are
final and binding.
PRIZES
- The judges will select a first and second place winner from the final round of competition
of the Ultimate S’mores Contest. Total prize award value is $500 (five hundred dollars).
- The First place Ultimate S’mores winner will receive a cash prize of $ 300 (three
hundred dollars).
- The Second place Ultimate S’mores winner will receive a cash prize of $ 200 (two
hundred dollars).
- No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted. All taxes are the sole responsibility of
the contestants.
- Four (4) tickets to the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow will be given to each participant
(value is $40.00) for entry to the competition.
CONDITIONS
- Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these official contest rules.
- All entries become the property of the 2010 Southwest RV Supershow and the Texas
Recreational Vehicle Association and will not be returned.
- Finalists will be required to execute documents of eligibility, release from liability, and
transfer of their winning recipes. By entering the Contest, all participants consent to the
commercial use of their names, pictures, likenesses, and recipes (with rights to edit or
adapt those recipes) without further compensation.
- By entering participants release and hold harmless the sponsors, their respective
subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents, the preliminary
Judging panel and the final judging panel from any and all liability (including but not
limited to claims of the infringement of copyright or other intellectual property) or any
injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this contest or any
prize won.
- Sponsors and their agents are not responsible for unauthorized human intervention,
phone, technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failures,
malfunctions or disconnects of any kind, or misdirected, illegible, incomplete, stolen,
garbled, fragmented or delayed internet/e-mail computer transmissions or
network/ISP/website internet accessibility; or for inaccurate, incorrect or incomplete
capture of entry information.
